Jana Korb:
poka (translation from Russian)
Dear participants in Moscow, Piter, Singapure, Frechen, and Berlin!
It somehow seems to me that our discussion has just begun, that only now
we are beginning to understand each other, that after many (warm, and
impatient, and emotional) letters and misunderstandings we now could begin
with the discussion about women and technology, about pregnancy and
cloning, about (cyber)feminist experiences and politics, etc.
But a lot has been said and maybe there is no need for more. I don't know.
Somehow it feels like we haven't discussed at all, but I know that this is
not true - we discussed rather a lot and the talk was about many things.
As Alla wrote, it is hard to find concentration on something, maybe my
feeling of insuccess is coming from this.
(hereby I would like to say hello: Alla, great, that, after all, you've also
entered the discussions.)
It could be that Irina Aktuganova is right that we are too different.
But I do not want to believ in this, because I believe in communication
and understanding of each other - although I know that it can be very
hard, as it was with us.
Now I understand and know more than before our conversation, and that is
good.
Now I somehow would like to SEE you, these very different and interesting
women, whom we have been talking to - strange, isn't it? (but I have seen
you all on fotographs and Larissa (and Andrea) even in reality, all except
Valentina,...)
But this is the specific joy of the medium e-mail, it produces and
strengthens the imagination and thoughts about the others, the pictures
about where you are right now, what time it is there, what weather, ...
(I am again drinking coffee at work, although yesterday I poured it over
keyboard and papers - stupid as I am ...)
Although our theme "technology" and similar topics somehow remained
peripheral or discussed with difficulties, our talk about feminisms and
our experiences couldn't do without this topic.
But still there is a need to think more about technologies, which
noticeably and unnoticed are penetrating our lives, as e.g. Valentina has
written in her letter (also greetings to you, Valentina, welcome to our
circle, and lots of luck and strength for your fight against cancer!)
But we've often talked about feminims, and about women.
And everybody has their own views and opinion about that.
Have we succeeded to create a cyber/feminist network? We are still looking
for possibilities of cyber/feminist agency (politics), and we will
continue to look for this...
First I will have to think about your letters, to look at the differences
and similarities and different usages of terms and words.
But this also is concerning the differences between Andrea and me,
although we have such a similar living experience...
But: Larissa is writing that probably after the 20th of december we will
be missing something, it will become boring.
Yes, you are right.
I found the talks very interesting, every day I impatiently looked into my
mailbox, whether a letter has come in.
I thank you all very much for this, for your participation, for the
sharing of your experiences.
See you again, and maybe soon...
Yours, Jana.
(and also big greetings by Andrea who is ill at the moment, but she will
write as soon as she will be better.)
